Mass service: 8:00–9:00 PM (Sunday English Mass)

When Don Bosco Makati Parish Makati decided to add an 8 PM mass in 1989, the “Rhythm at 8 pm”, a group of all male members, was created and eventually changed its name to Emmanuel or “God is with us.” As the members thought that there could never be any name more apt, thus, they’ve officially adopted it as the group’s name. That was in 1998, when a handful of willing and dedicated parishioners founded the SJB Emmanuel Choir. The group has carried on that unfailing dedication to serve and continues to grow in number, further striving to enliven the 8:30 PM Sunday Mass.

Emmanuel Choir then and now regularly meets every Saturday and Sunday before the 8:30 PM, now 8 PM Mass, for practice (with ongoing workshop). Aside from its regular participation in the Sunday Mass, it also takes part in wedding services, Simbang Gabi celebration as well as other seasonal parochial activities.

A passion for service and singing are just two of the reasons why Emmanuel is gets stronger as a group. Despite the usual ups and downs that any group experiences, Emmanuel Choir is clear in its mission to serve the parish community further with fervor and enthusiasm. At the heart of the group’s philosophy is the belief that “he who sings well, prays twice”.
